I Hate Windows 10(kinda)!!!
Windows 10, a beautiful and amazing operating system that is supposed to improve user experience in the long run and support its users in eco-friendly ways.It has one Job as an operating system, to be fluid and smooth and give a good experience to its users and yet somehow and in someways this piece of garbage fails to do the very thing that it should do and the very thing that it should keep as the priority.I have no idea what was Microsoft thinking about when it comes to optimizing this OS.When I first started using it after ditching the good old Windows 7 which was completely fine, I wanted to enjoy it but all I got was an OS that was super jerky and laggy and super resource hungry. The only reason I stopped using Windows 7 was to stay up-to date with the software specially for gaming purposes. But the problem is, how am I supposed to have smooth gaming experience when the game requires 98% C.P.U and then Windows randomly starts eating 30% C.P.U on idle for no reason. How can I expect snappy performance when Windows starts using 100% disk slowing every thing down even when Idle. What can I do about Windows Update that can break anytime and then your Windows is dead. What can I do about the tons of Microsoft's Spywares and Malwares that come in pre-installed with this unoptimized OS.
The thing is when all these problems sometimes calm down, it becomes as smooth as Windows 7 but still when it starts hogging every resource on the PC,it becomes a slow and laggy stutter fest that is just annoying.
Lets break down Why I hate Windows 10:
Privacy Doesn't Exists - In this age of internet, privacy is pretty much a joke. Literally every Website is collecting your private information without your permission and you probably do not even know. The mega social media corporations know about you more than yourself.Like Facebook is creepy and all the images you publish on that thing belongs to Facebook and anyone can view them.No matter how many times will Facebook be exposed for data breach, people will not care about it.Well Microsoft is also crazy with invading your privacy at outstanding levels.Literally every single thing you do in Windows 10 has an option to send data to Microsoft. Cortana and Windows defender are like the biggest Malwares in this OS and unlike Windows 7,you can't turn of defender permanently unless you want to use some unorthodox methods. There is an option to send the entire device information to Microsoft and it is ON by default along with settings that allow Microsoft to access your apps. The first thing you should do is turn OFF all these invasive settings and turn that Spy Cortana and Malware Windows Defender OFF from the registry.Cortana stores all your information in the Microsoft servers that will not be deleted even if you disable Cortana.
Using Unusual Amounts Of PC Resources In The Back Ground - The most annoying issue with this OS is the unusual usage of resources randomly even on idle that slows the whole machine down. There is this service in the background called Superfech that will randomly use 100% of the Hard Disk.It is funny that this service is supposed to make your PC Smooth but when it starts doing its thing and starts eating your hard disk speed, it becomes the opposite of smooth. And I tried turning Superfetch OFF but that slows down the booting speed so I am forced to keep it on and wait for it to complete its thing. But hard disk is not the only thing that this OS eats!It also eats your C.P.U!My C.P.U already runs at 98 degree Celsius on peak gaming and then Microsoft Software Protection Platform Services fires up and tries to eat 30% C.P.U that is already at 90% load which just chokes the processing which causes massive stuttering while gaming. The worst part is that there is no way to turn it OFF no matter what I try, it will always turn ON automatically!I have to use a third party process Killer to stop that!
Using Large Amounts Of Internet Data In The Background Without Your Knowledge - It seems that even after turning OFF all privacy settings that send your data to Microsoft, Microsoft is still stealing your data in the Background, heavily using your Internet. It is using this service called Background Intelligence Transfer Service which is connected to Windows Update but it is annoying nonetheless and it cannot be stopped either as it turns on instantly and automatically(ME FROM THE FUTURE - So I turned it OFF from services by turning it into disabled mode.It turns back on after Rebooting the PC using the Reboot option). If that is not enough, Microsoft Click to Run Service also uses insane amount of background data and even setting your WiFi to metered does not stop it from eating your precious and limited bandwidth.Forcing it OFF from services or registry will break MS Office. This why connecting to the internet on Windows 10 is a scary experience specially if you have a limited internet. You never know when it will randomly start eating your data and then you will rush through the task manager to find the culprit.
Bulky With Time - Another really massive issue with this already bulky OS is that with time it gets even more bulky and sluggish as all the cache files and remnants build up and within a Year.It starts eating a ton storage space in whatever drive partition it is installed.
Windows Update - All the other points are nothing when compared to the worst, unoptimized and the most broken and messy feature in Windows 10, the God awful Windows Update. The first thing to note is that as a user you do not have any form of proper control of this. There is no actual proper way to disable this garbage by default no matter what you do.The only way to full on disable it is through the registry and doing this seems to break Windows Store. It is annoying when Microsoft keeps pushing massive updates every 2 days and then those updates take ages to install for whatever reason and chances of the update failing in the middle is very high and it will break the Operating System.Even it if does successfully update, the chances are some of the critical features may be broken but the largest problem is that after an update, windows gets really really slow and laggy. You might as well download fresh latest image file of windows 10 from Microsoft official website and create a bootable USB and install fresh windows instead of relying on Windows Update.Fresh installation is safer than software updates and it actually keeps the PC much smooth.Windows Update is not the only update that Microsoft has messed up, they have also messed up the updates of the XBOX consoles.
All these bring us to our final problem.
Lack Of Control - Majority of the above problems happen because of the lack of user based control. Most of the malware like services like Cortana,Windows Defender,Windows Update, other services that eat up your internet in the background cannot be turned OFF simply by going into the normal settings. They can only be turned off through the services tab or the by going into the deep registry which has a risk of breaking the system.Infact their are some annoying services that just do not turn of no matter what you do.
It is funny that these weird problems that have been in Windows 10 forever are basically the parcel of Windows 8 & 8.1 because they are the ones that started all these garbage schemes but at-least Windows 8.1 had some form of control over things like Windows Update which is completely missing in 10.The first thing I do whenever I install fresh Windows 10 is disable all its malware and spyware things as much as possible. And the worst part is that most of them will turn right back on if you hit the 'Reboot' option.I kind of want to go back to Windows 7 even if its support has ended.I mean as long as I know what I am doing, my PC will be fine.Windows 7 was perfect. It was silky smooth,it was easy to control and handle,it was easy to turn useless things OFF anytime,Windows Update and Defender were so easy to disable,it had no Cortana, it did not have Microsoft's ridiculous data stealing permissions and it never used a ton of resources on idle for no reason.Windows 7 was the home that I abandoned it will remain a legendary OS besides XP and 98 that cared about user control.
