I Played The original Resident Evil and experienced what True Survival Horror feels like!

There is something about the original Resident Evil game,a game that I never wanted to play because of the fixed camera angles and the tank controls. Those two things have always been very disorienting to me personally and I have always had problems with adjusting to both of them. The part the problem is that I was too used to the 3rd Person and 1st Person camera angles in modern games and so it was even more difficult to be in command of a camera angle that does not really give you the freedom to see things the way you wanted to do.It is almost as if I never really felt in control while playing the game because of how less I could see and the game forcing me to see things that it wanted me to see.And the tank controls were the worse! They were just weird to me, very slow and it really was very difficult to adjust to that.I Just struggled and stopped. But last week I decided to get into it again.I forced my way into it because I had to do it and I had to feel what Survival Horror felt like back in the day when it was really punishing to the player and to my surprise,I finally got the hang of it.It took me a good couple days to get completely used to the fixed camera angles and tank controls but finally,I was getting good at that and it was a thrilling learning curve. It was really amazing to see how much of an important role the tank controls and the fixed camera angles played to increase the fear and the horror factor mixed with lonely and quite atmosphere of the Spencer Mansion and the quality of sounds. The fixed camera worked really well to hide all types of dark secrets and there were so many moments when I knew there was something down a hallway or in a room and I could hear the sounds too but the camera did not allow me to see what it was which made those moments really tense and scary to the point where I never really wanted to move forward anymore. It showed that the fear of unknown is still the most important aspect in horror and what we imagine in our head will always be more scary than what we see.And the tank controls complemented the camera really well. The slow and sluggish control scheme made it really tricky and panicky to dodge or avoid threats which resulted in some heart skipping moments. The game created a very hardcore survival experience by giving the players very less resources be it healing items or ammunition and very less inventory space. On higher difficulties, the game does not even have enough supplies to kill everyone and the first half the game was very hard to me because I ran out of the already limited ammo very fast and the game forces you to strategically decide what to kill and what to not kill. The less amount of inventory storage made it really hard to manage inventory specially in the early hours. The game did not hold my hands either as it never really shows any kind of 'Do this','Do that','Go to this',Reach that point' kind of objectives.Infact it has zero HUD(Heads-up Display) and the only way to find the objectives is through dialogues, exploration and subtle details(which can be tricky and hard to catch). And the puzzles.....well the entire game is basically a puzzle but yeah there are quite a few puzzles and most of them require significant brain usage and always have subtle details as clues and it is really easy to miss those subtle details and then get completely lost about what to do next so yeah, the puzzles are not very hard but they are tricky and it is very easy to get stuck in one of them if not careful with the clues. And to top it off,the game has limited saves! You can only save games in an in-game typewriter using ink ribbons that are very limited and this adds to the tension since you do not want to lose progress but at the same time make sure you do not save too much at the wrong times. The only problem with the game are the corny and awkward dialogues and very simple and plain ending cutscenes but that is understandable since it the remaster of the remake of the original 1996 version the game.
I had lots of fun with this game and it was very stressful in the beginning but gets a lot easier as time passes by and after it ended,I had experienced a true Survival Horror experience at its most basic form and I enjoyed it very much!It is a little sad that most modern day gamers will probably not be able to get into it because of the massive difference in the camera angle and controls from what is offered now and it is completely understandable since even I had problems getting used to it first. But it is there loss.
